Chinese New Year. The event is co-hosted by
Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England (CCBA),

culture arts that is still popular today around the world in
Asian populations. Lion Dance is used in celebrations,
especially during Chinese New Year, business grand openings

people performing the Lion Dance are trained martial
artists. There are usually 8 to 10 troupes participating in
the New Year Lion Dance event. First they would perform on
stage for audience and then they would go door to door to
each and all businesses around Chinatown to perform. It is
an all day event, the event starts at around 10:00 am, by
the time the troupes visited all the businesses, it’s
usually close to 5:00 p.m.
